Windows security is included in every device running Microsoft’s operating system. It protects your data and devices from malware and hacker attacks through various methods. This includes basic antivirus protection, a firewall and other tools to prevent data loss. You can manage and access these settings via the Windows Security application or a small shield icon located in the notification area on the taskbar.

Microsoft’s own antivirus program, Microsoft Defender Antivirus, is available with Windows. One of the most important features is reputation-based protection, which uses a massive online database to examine websites and apps for their reputation scores. If the program or site is not able to meet the standards it will be stopped from running on your device. Other features include firewall & network protection, which monitors your network as well as the applications you use to determine if they’re secure. Device security is another feature that lets you use advanced hardware features, such as core isolation. This can be used to help protect your device from certain types or kinds of attacks, but you will need a compatible computer to make use of it.
