AVG offers a powerful feature set, solid malware protection, and solid performance across a variety of tests. The free version has a few issues, while the premium version has additional features, including the device optimization tool and VPN.

The malware scan of the software employs machine learning and heuristics in order to detect and remove any potential threats including trojans rootkits and Cryptojackers. It also protects you against ransomware-related attacks, phishing, and suspicious websites. AVG’s smart scans are fast as well as thorough. They provide a range of “advanced issues” that you can resolve now, such as sensitive objects that need to be protected with passwords, a vulnerable webcam or weak firewall. It’s more invasive than other top-quality antivirus programs in this regard. If you click on one of these problems, it will ask you buy the paid version.

Its AV-Test test results are generally good and it was able to detect and protected against all malware during the March and April 2022 tests. Its ability to detect zero-day attacks is less than some of the top-rated software that I’ve tested. It is also prone to slowing down the system.

The free version includes security for email and the web identity theft monitoring of passwords leaked to the public Photo vaulting, and AVG Cleaner, which will help speed up your device through the elimination of junk data. The premium version includes webcam security and ransomware protection along with safer banking and a firewall. It also comes with an performance tuneup that improves the performance of your PC and extends battery lifespan, and it comes with an VPN to ensure you are secure online.
